How becoming a Hub Buddy has helped my Mental Health

Hi! My name’s Phoebe and I work/volunteer at Young Somerset as a Hub Buddy. My role at Young Somerset has me doing lots of bits and bobs surrounding many things, including participation feedback, working alongside a variety of young people, contributing to our virtual hubs, sitting on interview panels, providing social media content and writing a piece in our mental health newsletter – it keeps me busy!

My mental health journey has been very difficult and I’ve faced a variety of challenges within the mental health services myself. With these experiences, I wanted to use them for the better and there’s no better place to do that other than Young Somerset. I work alongside such a warm, understanding, intelligent and compassionate team and I don’t think teenage me ever imagined I’d be doing this! 2020 has been very challenging for us all. For me, Young Somerset has been the light at the end of the tunnel.
